Season of Silence

An original piece:

SEASON OF SILENCE

In the twinkling of twilight once broken
As the river sinks to its lowest tonight
I hear the whispers in the cold distance
All my past lives are all packed away

No rhyme or reason can take this away
Across the bleakest skies this thought rises
In the expectations that have been laid out
Hoping against hope in a season of silence

In the songs of experience heard before
As the winter comes to cast its sad spell
I feel the shadows lighting up the end of summer
All the years that are stretching before us

No rhyme or reason can take this away
Across the bleakest skies this thought rises
In the expectations that have been laid out
Hoping against hope in a season of silence
