Risky

One of the most unusual and improbable musical collaborations of all time has to be the one between synth-pop pioneer and ethnic-fusion expert Ryuichi Sakamoto and Stooges frontman and punk godfather Iggy Pop on "Risky", a superior slice of modulated 1980s Japanese funk. Here, Pop wisely eschews his usual manic yelps for a more streamlined but still raspy vocal performance, which, oddly enough, sounds rather fitting above the bedrock of hyper-tight synth chords and rustic, traditional Japanese instrumentation that Sakamoto has meticulously crafted. Check out the atmospheric, stylish black-and-white video clip.
